HITACHI: eco-friendly screens at CEATEC
By
Hitachi has taken advantage of CEATEC JAPAN 2009 to show many of its new models (as we have seen in other post) and prototypes of LCD and plasma TVs that have advanced features to save energy.
Especially creative is the idea that he fitted on a 42-inch PDP TV model P-42-XP03, which currently is already produced in series, a camera as an alternative to energy saving.
The basic idea is that by using the facial recognition implemented on cam, determines whether the user is looking at the screen or not. If the controller detects that the user has the face turned away, a screen pops up a sign that says “power saving mode.”
Hitachi has provided for a period of at least three seconds before the screen switches to powersafe. It is instinctive to think that if the viewer is distracted for some reason the TV temporarily unnecessary step in minimum power mode. In reality there is the possibility of changing the speed of switching mode powersafe, but a ‘remember more questions: why the audio is not disabled?
