The transition from generation 3000 to 4000 did not mark revolutionary changes. This TV, however, integrates a video processing system of new generation, for less than $ 1000. The design is a bit ‘most wanted, and was passed by the Bravia Engine EX Bravia Engine 2, which however was not sufficient to solve all problems, so the 32W4000 is a good TV but not entirely free of defects.

Design and finishing

The TV was sober and elegant, and excellent finishing. It is mounted on a rotating base.

Ergonomics

If the design has been revolutionized, you can not say the same of the menus, a legendary complexity on Sony Bravia TVs, and that the 32W4000 have been simplified a lot, giving them a similar appearance to menus of the PlayStation 3. The navigation is thus easier, but the menu fills the whole screen and the first icon that appears is not what concerns us more closely, namely the image settings.

Envelope

The equipment is very rich and includes three HDMI 1.3 inputs (two rear and one side), a digital terrestrial receiver DVB-T HD, then prepared for the reception of broadcasting in high definition (HDTV), and a USB input for displaying photos . Like dell’E4000, the 32W4000 has a Picture Frame Mode, where the television becomes a great digital picture frame. Sony says that in this mode the TV consumes 10% less, but it is a huge waste of energy. If you really want a digital frame, buy a smaller, cheaper and less greedy for power.

Consumption

Consumption in stand-by from 0.5 to 15 W
Consumption at 250 cd / m 2 118 W
OSD Adjustment to reach 250 cd / m 2 = 8 Backlight, Brightness 57
Dynamic power as a function of the no content
Dynamic power as a function of external lighting

Consumption is relatively low, in fact we measured only 118 W at 250 cd / m 2, a brightness more than enough for a 32 inch. The TV has a sensor that measures the outside and automatically adjusts the brightness of the panel. During our tests, consumption were constant regardless of the type of image displayed on the screen. As regards consumption in stand-by, after you insert the plug into the outlet we measured a consumption of 15 W for about 15 minutes. After that, consumption stood at good value of 0.5 W. Not recommend using the Quick Start mode, which does not greatly reduce the time you turn on your TV and increasing consumption in stand-by.
